Napoleon Hill said it best, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” What a powerful statement that is. So if we put our minds to whatever we want in life, we can make it happen. But it takes a well thought out plan to get there. Companies have gone out of business because of this simple statement. On the other hand, when starting or running a business, you need more than a dream to be successful. Having a definite chief aim is where it begins. Every company needs one, and it would be wise to present it bold and clear. You and your team need to know what you want, so you can get precisely that.

Once you have your plan, it takes action to get results. As Napoleon said, “A goal is a dream with a deadline.” An effective part of achievement is team work. If everyone is on the same page and feels unified as one, nothing can stop the progress of victory. Earning success is like a game of basketball, you can’t take on the other team alone – you will fail again and again. But with good teamwork you can score every time.

One important thing to realize is that your chief aim can change. You’re not going to know what you want 25 years down the road, because you don’t know what 25 years down the road will be like. Success doesn’t come without failure. So when it does, remember what Napoleon said, “When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal.” Don’t let fear put you down, stand strong with your definite chief aim and keep on moving forward.

In order to become successful at everything you do, it requires a definite chief aim. You can have multiple aims – one for your company, yourself, family, etc. We all make good decisions on behalf of ourselves for immediate gratification or for future gratification. However most times we aren’t focused on our ultimate desires because we live life completely or partially aimless, not knowing what we’re doing. Then our choices end up not leading us to our goal. But remember, all success begins with a definite purpose.
