In order for a company to succeed, it has to have a good idea, motivation, and pure grit to stay alive. It’s not easy to run a business, and that’s why so many have begun and failed. With all of that in mind, having a quality salesperson is mandatory. You need someone that has the same determination as the company to lead you to the top.
A quality salesperson needs to have good skills and personality. They need to be confident, energized, motivated, and intelligent. They should have good communication; both speaking and listening. Additionally, they need to have a perfect understanding of what they are selling.
I read an article on LinkedIn that talks about how to have a good sales-force, it said, “You hire 10 sales reps, and after a year you fire nine of them, and hire nine more. After another year you fire eight, keep the best one and hire eight more. You keep doing this and you’ll have a team as good as the one I have; of course, then the rep that’s been with you for 10-years is ready to retire!” This is a great way to quickly find out who the true and faithful sales reps are. If I was one of those sales reps and knew that the majority of us would be fired, I would either work extremely hard or leave the company immediately.
Finding top talent is not easy – it is rare. There is a saying, “you get what you pay for.” So if you pay a salesperson well, they are more likely to work harder and become your perfect salesperson. Along with that, it would be wise to pay them according to their performance. Paying them a decent salary plus commissions is a great solution, because they are satisfied as well as determined to sell and make more money.
Overall, it is essential to have a good sales-force. If they are good, they will get you what you need and want most – sales. Don’t be afraid to award them too much because if it weren’t for them, you wouldn’t have any money to award even yourself. Use these ideas to find and recruit salespeople that will take your company to the top.
